Stunt reaches YouTube without public relations input

5 Dec

When I wrote about the VW Toureg towing the 747 jet – I asked why the public relations strategy didn’t include a YouTube posting – Autoblog now provides YouTube video of the stunt taken from coverage on a television programme, Pulling Power.  Seems the PR team still didn’t realise the potential of video even when they had the opportunity.  It has been on YouTube 5 days now (that’s a week after the press coverage) and had 5,000 views – which is not a lot.  Could have been more impact if timed with the offline activity.

Excellent point. I’m going to be posting on a similar subject tomorrow. Any stunt that is visual is perfect for YouTube.

It was posted a week later and has had 5,000 views in 5 days. This figure could have been considerably higher, it failed to maximise its potential here. Hopefully, other PR pros will take heed of this and start to think more visually and interactively. [...]
