The RAC Foundation takes an innovative approach to public relations. Edmund King (who should have been in the PR Week Power Book in my view), frequently pops up on radio shows, like Jeremy Vine or television news, along with other members of his strong team.
They love to get behind a good campaign and have begun to follow these through with use of new media. For example, as part of the global Make Roads Safe campaign, there is a fun Road Runner game online in association with the band Dirty Pretty Things and a new Zebra Crossing game for children launching this month.
So I was not surprised to learn yesterday of the new RAC Foundation blog UK Drive Time – it is a little plain at the moment and reporting rather than discussing issues. But I am sure the personality and commitment of Edmund and his guys will soon make this a valuable campaigning resource (Disclosure – they are all MIPAA members and so well known to me).
I have another little challenge for the guys – the Wikipedia entry for the organisation is a basic stub and there is so much more to tell about its history, campaigns and approach that could expand this entry.
